LIGHT DESIGNER
LIGHT DESIGNER
A light designer has the responsibility of creating the mood or locale of
a production through light illumination. He must study the script with the
director thoroughly and discuss his lighting concept with the director before
drawing up his design plan.
It is necessary for the light designer to interact well with his crew
members and maintain a high level of discipline. He must ensure that the
lighting boot is kept orderly and clean at all times. He must not allow
non-crew members to get into the lighting boot. He must not permit eating or
drinking in the lighting boot at any time. He must turn-on the lighting board
at the beginning of a performance and turn-off after each performance.
He must check and re-check his skills and must know who will give them
and who must take them. He must take inventory of all gels. It is imperative
and he must check with manager every night whether there have been any changes
in the lighting plan.
After production he must clean all instruments and cables.
