Ways of Observing and Reporting Common Crimes
Citizens have helped stop countless crimes and saved lives by being involved in protecting their community. It is important that we know the proper way to observe someone or something suspicious in order to accurately relay that information to the police and other law enforcement agencies.
The proper ways to observe crimes are by:
Taking note of strange individuals in our neighborhood: We must notice strange fellows in our neighborhood, especially those who walk about aimlessly.
Taking note of people whispering repeatedly: We must take special notice of people who whisper repeatedly, whether they are people we know or not.
Taking note of what people carry: We must take special notice of what someone or some people are carrying. It should be of special concern to us if such a thing has the shape of an explosive.
Taking note of movements of strange persons in our neighborhood: Neighborhood members are familiar with one another. If strange people are seen in our neighborhood at odd hours, we must take note.
Taking note of any car trailing your car steadily: If driving, we must notice the car or cars consistently trailing us and taking every turn we take. Such a person or persons may have ulterior motive (s).
We can report our observation in the following way:
Call or phone the police station without delay. But if we do not have the telephone number of personnel of the nearest station, report such cases in person to the nearest police station.
Alert a neighbor on what you see posing danger(s) to the neighborhood.
In some cases. Report such cases to other security agencies, especially the Civil Defense.
In extreme case, such matters should be reported to the army.
