RECITATION OF THE PROVERBS 3:1 – 4
‘My Son, do not forget my teachings, but let your heart keep my commandments;
For length of days and years of life and abundant welfare will they give you. Let not loyalty and faithfulness forsakes you; bind them about your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart, so that you will find favor and good repute, in the sight of God and man.
PURSPOSES OF THE LAW
Laws are made to regulate conduct and maintain order in the society. The law is for everybody to obey so that we can have goodness and mercies around us all the days of our lives. A society without law is a lawless and a disorder society. God is a God of order that is why He gave us laws to follow that we might be orderly too.
The main purpose of the law is as follow:
• To regulate the relationship between God and His people.
• To teach the Israelites and others more about God.
• To bring about harmony, unity and peace in the society.
• The commandments show the people, the need to repent and turn to God.
• To make our lives better, God loves us so much that he does not want us to destroy ourselves by ignoring his moral laws.
• To regulate the people’s behavior and relationship with God and with one another.
• To help us know our duties to God and our fellow human beings.
• To find favor in the sight of God.
• To lead us on the right path and not to go against God.
• To make us to obey God forever.
God gave Moses the law to give his people on Mount Sinai. The law is known as the Ten Commandments or the Decalogue. That is available in this site.
