FUNCTIONS OF THE DIRECTOR

There are many functions of the director which includes:

1.      He interprets the play artistically, technically and aesthetically.

2.      He makes final decision on who should participate in the play.

3.      He is the interpreter of the play and it is his interpretation of the play that the actors and other production crew will project.

4.      He summons the meeting of production crew and give them specific responsibility according to their skills or expertise.

5.      Supply scripts to cast and crew for effective execution of the play.

6.      He provides rehearsal time table and he take all manner of blockings and all manner of actions.

7.      The director is always in charge of production till the opening Night where he hands over the artistic batting to the stage manager and stands aside.
