Audition is the test of a performer’s suitability and ability to perform in a play or other production. There are three methods of casting a play:
1.      PRE-CASEING METHOD: This involves casting actors who have abilities or whom you
have seen acted or performed in a play before. They would also be known actors who must have performed on a well known play, this method of auditioning and casting is                            always very effective.
2.       INTERBIEW METHOD: This involves actors you have heard of but never seen performed in your presents. At this interview he explains his role in various capacities. He can be asked to act a sequence or a scene from a play he must have acted. He can be asked to improvise a situation would have given him. He can be asked to reenact a script you have with you.
3.      HOLDING AUDITION: This is particular for those who have no acting experience in the theatre.  These are the amateurs and those you have not seen acted before in a play. Audition may be done Openly or Secretly. When it is done openly everybody can see and passed their judgments whether professionally or otherwise. But when it is done secretly, it gives room for the director and his crew to judge artistically. More so, audition is better heard secretly to avoid any animosity which may endanger the life of the director, when there are too many enthusiastic aspirants (actors) in the community. Certain qualities must be looked out for in audition which includes:
a)      The actors physic in accordance with his role
b)      His ability to cope with peculiarity of his role
c)      Possibility to grow during rehearsals
d)      Ability to relate with fellow actors on stage.
